Louisa and Wililam Bruff (the daughter and son-in-law of Frederick Douglass’s former master, Thomas Auld) lived at this home. In 1877, they greeted Douglass at the front door. Douglass wanted reconciliation with Thomas Auld. Douglass and Bruff had an agreeable visit and made amends. Today, the building is the Dr. Dodson Bed and Breakfast.
