Desegregation of the Laurel Pool

Opened in 1958, the pool was originally private and for whites only. Demand for change grew after the Black Grove community became the target of hate crimes led by local KKK members. The City of Laurel purchased the pool and desegrated it in 1968.

Water's Edge Museum

This museum celebrates the Founding Black Families of America and Environmental Justice as a Civil Right. Visiting The Water's Edge allows visitors to see how people of color on the Eastern Shore lived and how their lives mattered.

The Havre de Grace Hub Tour

This tour includes sites that were integral to Civil Rights efforts in Havre de Grace during the late Jim Crow and Civil Rights eras, including Green Book sites, sit-ins at restaurants, and the desegregation of schools and the hospital.
