Where We Fished
For this trip, we met up with Fish in OC's Scott Lenox, and he showed us the ropes. Taking us to the "Thoroughfare and 41st street", this fishing hotspot is a haven for both seasoned fishermen and beginners alike. Season:
The summer flounder season is open year-round. Though high season is during the summer months while the waters are warmer.
Opportunity:
The recreational fishery for summer flounder in the Maryland portion of the Chesapeake Bay occurs in late summer from the Bay Bridge south, with the greatest amount of effort closer to the Virginia line and the mouth of the Potomac River. While the Oceans hold fish in much higher numbers from March through the end of October. The most popular baits are minnows and squid strips, and drifting is the most popular method of fishing.
