Where to Fish In the Region
North Point State Park Pier
North Point is located in Baltimore County on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay and is rich in natural beauty. This 1,310-acre park in Edgemere was once the site of the Bay Shore Amusement Park, a popular destination for summer visitors from 1906 to 1947. Visitors can see the original trolley station, which is now used as a covered picnicking area and fountain that has been restored and is still in operation today. The Defenders Trail, which was used by soldiers during the War of 1812, passes through the park. Today, North Point has scenic views overlooking the Chesapeake Bay, a water-accessible area, two fishing piers, and picnicking and hiking trails that lead you around the park and through protected wildlands.
Sandy Point State Park
This 786-acre Maryland State Park is located along the northwestern shore of the Chesapeake Bay. The park’s beaches and picnic areas are well known for their breathtaking scenic water views that overlook one of Maryland’s true treasures, the Chesapeake Bay. The park offers a marina store and boat rentals along with accessible concessions, fishing, picnic areas, shelters, bathhouses and playgrounds. Fishing from the shoreline is permitted in designated areas. There are several rock jetties in the park and a fishing/ crabbing pier located next to the boat launch ramps. The park allows night fishing; however, only people who are actively fishing, including children, can be in the park after the park closes. Bait & fishing supplies are available in the marina store.
Susquehanna State Park
Located along the Susquehanna River valley with its heavy forest cover and rocky terrain, Susquehanna State Park offers a wide variety of outdoor recreational opportunities. Shoreline anglers or boating anglers can launch from the Lapidum Boat Ramp. The Susquehanna River, from the Conowingo Dam to the Chesapeake Bay, is tidal water. A Chesapeake Bay & Coastal Sport License is required in order to fish this portion of the Susquehanna River. Fishing in Deer Creek requires a non-tidal fishing license
The park is also home to some of the most popular mountain biking trails in Maryland. Susquehanna State Park contains a family-friendly campground with traditional campsites and cabins. History buffs will be drawn to the restored Rock Run Historic Area with its working gristmill, Carter-Archer Mansion, Jersey Toll House and the remains of the Susquehanna & Tidewater Canal.
Havre De Grace Fishing Piers
Concord Lighthouse Fishing Pier
Located just behind the Lighthouse in Concord Point Park, this pier offers a great view of the Susquehanna River and is a popular fishing spot. A license is required, which can be obtained on the Maryland Department of Natural Resources website.
Hutchins Park Fishing Pier
The Hutchins Park Fishing Pier is one of the City’s license-free, public fishing spots. Enjoy great views of the Susquehanna River. Public Restrooms nearby. This area is a license-free fishing area. Located at the end of Congress Avenue within Frank J. Hutchins Park.
Millard Tydings Park Fishing
Adjacent to the Promenade Grille and the boardwalk, the Millard Tydings Park fishing area is a license-free fishing area near the City Yacht Basin (Marina) and the Millard Tydings Memorial Park.
