Palmer State Park is a public recreation area located along Deer Creek. Historic sites can be found along the creek banks and native flora and fauna thrive in the forested habitat.

Founded as Chautauqua retreat in 1891 and once an amusement park, there’s a 1921 Dentzel Carousel, ballroom dancing, arts studios, two children’s theaters and playground.

The Independence is designed for charter fishing, almost year-round. Max charter size is 18 people.
